A Future and a Hope

Thank you for connecting on my blog page, For such a Time as This. You may be wondering why yet more blogs when so many channels, blogs, vlogs, social platforms and other shows abound.

We all know the world is in chaos, crisis and turmoil; it’s needing answers and solutions to a better world, one with a future and hope.

One thing is certain: it is not going to come from the genius of man, the acceleration of technological advancements even in medicine and new discoveries, nor does any government have the perfect strategy to reframe this world.

We are going to have to go up higher—look to God, raise our vision and be mindful of the fact that we did not create ourselves, but we have been created by Almighty God to fulfill His purposes.

Humankind cannot continue to live merely for themselves, as we can see it has been a recipe for disaster. It is indeed time to enter a new era.

You were born for such a time as this!

Over the last few weeks, having been in total lockdown in the beautiful Dolomite mountains in Italy, I have spent  time reflecting on where the world finds itself and I was reminded of how relevant what I wrote in my books over the past ten years is for today.

STANDING TALL IN A FALLING WORLD: If ever there was a time that we are required to stand tall, far and above what is taking place in the world, and look from God’s perspective and embrace His peace it is now. Man’s hearts can fail them for fear. Now is not the time to cower in fear but to stand tall in faith, knowing that this too shall pass and let’s pray that we learn the lessons of how important it is to value and respect God’s creation and realise how consequences can turn on us if we don’t.

WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE YOU WAITING FOR? What more needs to happen before we bring the change that is needed in the world? We are the ones we have been waiting for! Arise and shine for your light HAS come and the GLORY OF THE LORD has risen upon you. Now it is time to shine. Don’t let what is happening in the world silence your voice, your testimony or your joy! Spread it. The world needs it.

TURN IT AROUND: This book is very prophetic in content and speaks about this time when the world is in crisis, chaos and turmoil and it is needing answers that won’t come from an earthly realm. Man, proclaiming themselves to be wise, have become fools, for even our greatest advances in medicine and technology cannot save the world from a virus that has a dark origin. Governments don’t have the strategies to reframe this world. Only God can TURN THIS AROUND and He is going to use those who are called by HIS NAME to do it. We are His hands, His eyes, His feet, His Words and it is His Presence and light that will turn this darkness in the world by replacing it with His awakening—His glorious light.

PEARLS OF WISDOM: What we need right now more than anything else is wisdom. Not the wisdom of the world. The fear (healthy respect, honour, acknowledgement) of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom. This daily devotional is like finding that pearl of great price—our old ways simply won’t work anymore. We need to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God. This is great wisdom that will always work for you and never against you.

LIKE A FLOWER IN THE FIELD: This book highlights the lives of women in the Bible, who just like us today, faced some fierce giants. There is always a great future and a delightful hope when you walk with God. Like the turning of the season and the buds in my garden, spring does come and the flowers will bloom again. Like this virus, as quickly as it came it will fade and the colours of hope and the song of the birds will fill the land.

Never in our time and certainly perhaps not even in the last 100 years has the world ever been put on a Divine Pause—nor has it been placed in an uncertain holding pattern. But why and for what reason?

God created humankind in His own image and likeness. And then He trusted His creation so much that He gave us dominion over all things on the earth.

Then God said, “Let us make a man —someone like ourselves,* to be the master of all life upon the earth and in the skies and in the seas.” So God made man like his Maker. Like God did God make man; Man and maid did he make them. And God blessed them and told them, “Multiply and fill the earth and subdue it; you are masters of the fish and birds and all the animals. And look! I have given you the seed-bearing plants throughout the earth and all the fruit trees for your food. And I’ve given all the grass and plants to the animals and birds for their food.” Then God looked over all that he had made, and it was excellent in every way. This ended the sixth day. [Genesis 1:26-31]

Yet, with all God’s generosity and abundance, we have mistreated the most beautiful gifts He has given to us and the consequences throughout the ages have been and continue to be devastating.

The Apostle Paul warned his student, Timothy centuries ago about our times today: [2 Timothy 3:1-4, The Voice]

And know this: in the last days, times will be hard. You see, the world will be filled with narcissistic, money-grubbing, pretentious, arrogant, and abusive people. They will rebel against their parents and will be ungrateful, unholy, uncaring, coldhearted, accusing, without restraint, savage, and haters of anything good. Expect them to be treacherous, reckless, swollen with self-importance, and given to loving pleasure more than they love God.

Sounds like a news broadcast, doesn’t it? And so, just as many times as a parent, you have had to reprimand your child and when they don’t change their behavior, you have had to act more firmly and sternly, well perhaps God has had to do the same with us.

He has tried to draw our attention back to Him in so many ways, but mostly it falls on deaf ears. And since humankind doesn’t want to be crowned with humility and acknowledging our responsibility to God, there is another crown that we have to contend with and that is Corona which is the Latin word for crown.

This is not God’s doing—this is the consequences of the series of ungodly choices that humankind keeps making. God is love—He is not out to punish and destroy us. He came to redeem us and showed us the greatest act of love the world has ever seen. We create our own circumstances and consequences by the choices we make through the power of being given dominion over everything. It is at a time such as this that we must turn back to God, turn from our own ways, and get back into alignment with what He knows is best for us!

At the writing of this we are a few days from Passover or Easter when the Son of God gave His life for humanity because He knew we were lost and hopeless—not beyond redemption, but that we needed a Saviour. It is a time when we understand that when the Israelites were facing intense persecution and slavery, that a lamb had to be sacrificed and the blood placed on their door posts, and they had to remain in their homes, so that they would be untouched by the death that was coming upon the land. So too at the time of Passover we remember the Blood of the Lamb—JESUS CHRIST—that was shed for the world so that we could pass from death to life, through the POWER OF HIS RESURRECTION.

Could it be at this time, as we are engulfed by a foreign plague, that we are instructed—perhaps not by governments, but ultimately by God, to stay hidden in our homes, because this is a time of visitation, of awakening for the world. Could it be that the shaking and shifting that the world is going through is the voice of God rattling us out of our slumber, calling us to attention, reminding us that He is God, our creator, our Redeemer, our Savior? Perhaps only those who have spiritual ears will hear. God will not allow His people to be defeated, distracted or destroyed.

Yes, everything that can be shaken is being shaken—from our daily routines, to the markets collapsing in on themselves, to jobs being lost, food supplies in question, rampant deaths from an unknown virus—and on and on it goes. But it is being shaken so that which is unshakable—the Kingdom of God—will once again be seen and acknowledged.

Watch this Passover—change is coming! Mark your calendars from the 8 April. Watch and pray. The world as we have known it will not be as it was. But take courage and hope—God’s decree is this:

I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.

“When you call on me, when you come and pray to me, I’ll listen. When you come looking for me, you’ll find me. Yes, when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else, I’ll make sure you won’t be disappointed.” God’s Decree. I’ll turn things around for you.” [Jeremiah 29:11-14 in the Message Bible]

Don’t be discouraged, fearful or lose heart. God’s got this.

May you ask yourself everyday, “If I am alive for such a time as this, what can I do to bring a greater contribution to my world?”
